Size the system before choosing the price
Compare panels, batteries, inverters and installation offers using your real energy needs and site conditions.
Begin with the loads
List each appliance, its power rating and expected hours of use. Separate essential night loads from daytime loads. The supplier should explain assumptions about daily energy, peak power, battery depth of discharge and expected solar hours rather than offering a package only by the number of panels.

- Panel wattage, type and product warranty
- Battery chemistry, usable capacity and cycles
- Inverter continuous and surge rating
- Protection, cable sizes and mounting hardware
Installation details
- Roof or ground condition
- Shading and cable route
- Testing and handover documents
- Labour warranty and service contact
Compare like with like
A complete quotation should separate equipment, transport, mounting, electrical protection, installation and after-sales service. Two “5 kW systems” may have very different battery capacity, inverter quality and usable energy.
Use qualified installation
Incorrect protection, earthing or cable sizing can damage equipment and create fire or shock risk. Ask who will install, what standards they follow and how the completed system will be tested.
