Compare the device, warranty and seller—not only the headline price
A clear checklist for phones, laptops, appliances and business electronics sold in Tanzania.
Identify the exact configuration
Model names often cover several versions. Record storage, memory, processor, screen size, colour, network support, plug type and included accessories. For phones, ask whether the device is new, used or refurbished and whether identifying numbers can be verified at handover.
Before purchase
- Exact model and specification
- Condition and battery health
- Written warranty provider and period
- Box, charger, receipt and accessories
At collection
- Match serial or IMEI where appropriate
- Test display, ports, camera and network
- Check account locks are removed
- Keep the deal record and receipt
Understand “warranty”
Ask who will repair or replace the item, where the service point is, what faults are excluded and what document proves the warranty. A seller promise, manufacturer warranty and shop warranty are different.
Be careful with unusually low offers
A price far below comparable offers can signal a different specification, missing tax, used condition, a deposit scam or an item that is not in stock. Confirm the seller, stock and collection or delivery process before transferring money.
